Dr. Kazem is a board-certified and licensed optometrist and has been practicing in the Lawrenceville area for over twenty years. In 2017, he was the recipient of the Cooper Vision Best Practice Award for the advancement of the eye care profession through innovation, leadership, and patient experience. He is among the first optometrists in the country to complete the rigorous requirements and examinations to become a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. To maintain this elite status, he is required to complete additional courses every year and take an examination every few years.

Dr. Kazem specializes in hard-to-fit contact lenses for patients with astigmatism and post-surgical corneas and orthokeratology (corneal reshaping). As a result, many contact lens companies have called on his expertise in evaluating their contacts and rely on his recommendations to improve their products. Another area of great interest to Dr. Kazem is glaucoma, one of the leading causes of blindness in the world. He is dedicated to the early detection and treatment of glaucoma by attending numerous seminars each year in this area. He is also involved in the co-management of cataract and refractive surgery (LASIK).
Dr. Kazem received his undergraduate degree from Columbus State University and his Doctorate from UAB Medical Center/School of Optometry in 1993. At the same time, he pursued a graduate degree in physiological optics studying the effects of different solutions on the corneal epithelium with Dr. Graem Wilson, one of the leading experts in this area. He later completed his externships in the treatment and management of ocular disease under the tutelage of Dr. Paul Ajamian at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta, one of the premier externship sites in the country. At this multi-specialty center, he was trained by glaucoma, cornea, and retinal specialists, gaining valuable experience in managing patients with glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. Dr. Kazem has been a member of the American Optometric Association, the Georgia Optometric Association, and the Orthokeratology Academy of America.
Dr. Kazem lives in Lawrenceville and enjoys traveling with his wife, Maryam, and his two daughters, Leila and Ava. He has been involved in his community by providing humanitarian eye care through the Lions Club clinics in Athens and downtown Atlanta. Dr. Kazem has shown his real commitment to the community by performing eye health screenings and lectures about eye health at local schools, colleges, and nursing homes.
