Insurance & Financing

When making an appointment with our optometrist, please provide your vision and medical insurance information so we can obtain necessary authorizations and check on your deductibles. Co-pays are due at the time of your visit. This will expedite your visit and avoid any last minute surprises.

There is a difference between Routine Vision Insurance Carriers and Medical Insurance Carriers. Medical insurance carriers assist in providing insurance benefits for medical conditions affecting the eye. If there is a medical condition, an injury or on-going medical treatment of the eye, those visits and tests are billable to the medical insurance carriers instead of routine vision insurance carriers.

Many times the medical/health insurance card does not provide adequate information in order to determine who the routine vision carrier is or if there is any routine vision insurance for the member. Frequently insurance carriers delegate the routine vision to a secondary insurer. For example, many times Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna and United Healthcare insurance plans subsidize the routine vision insurance to Eyemed or Spectera. Human Resource departments or health insurance companies are very helpful in assisting you with this information.
