Dr. Kazem is a board certified and licensed optometrist and has been practicing in the Lawrenceville area for over twenty years. He is among the first optometrists in the country to complete the rigorous requirements and examinations to become a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. In order to maintain this elite status, he is required to complete additional courses every year and take an examination every few years.

Dr. Kazem specializes in hard to fit contact lenses for patients with astigmatism, post surgical corneas and Orthokeratology (corneal reshaping). Another area of great interest to Dr. Kazem is glaucoma, one of the leading causes of blindness in the world. He is dedicated to the early detection and treatment of glaucoma by attending numerous seminars each year in this area. He is also involved in a co-management of cataract and refractive surgery (LASIK).

Dr. Kazem received his undergraduate degree from Columbus State University and his Doctorate from UAB Medical Center/School of Optometry in 1993. At the same time he pursued a graduate degree in physiological optics studying effects of different solutions on the corneal epithelium with Dr. Graem Wilson, one of the leading experts in this area. He later completed his externships in treatment and management of ocular disease under the tutelage of Dr. Paul Ajamian at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta, one of the premier externship sites in the country. At this multi-specialty center he was trained by glaucoma, cornea, and retinal specialists gaining valuable experience in managing patients with glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. Dr. Kazem has been a member of the American Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, and the Orthokeratology Academy of America.

Dr.Kazem lives in Lawrenceville and enjoys traveling with his wife, Maryam, and his two daughters, Leila and Ava. He has been involved in his community by providing humanitarian eye care through the Lions Club clinics in Athens and downtown Atlanta. Dr. Kazem has shown his real commitment to the community by performing eye health screenings and lectures about the eye health at local schools, colleges, and nursing homes.
